The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren
Even if you have not read The Soulmate Equation, you will enjoy this book and be able to follow along as the references are minimal and explained a small amount (just enough to jog memories or make references make sense). Connor and Fizzy are the main characters, and yes you know they will get a Happily Ever After, but it is the journey of them realizing their feelings for each other and the crazy situations they end up in that make the story worth reading. Connor is a documentary producer, but the company he works for needs to make money so Connor is put in charge or a reality dating contest. Fizzy a romance writer is struggling to get her mojo back after learning she was “the other woman” when the guy she was dating turned out to be married. Connor feels the perfect hook for the dating show is having Fizzy, a romance author, as the contestant and using the DNA dating program River created in The Soulmate Equation provide a range of matches and the audience votes on who the connection is with and did the audience or River’s program pick a better match for Fizzy? With random adventures that Connor and Fizzy face while preparing for the TV show and the crew realizing that maybe the best match is Connor and Fizzy not Fizzy and one of the contestants the live finale of the TV show is the payoff the reader is looking for (and probably predicted for most of the book). No list of characters for this one as the contestants on the dating show are picked based not only on their DNA but also on what “romance hero” roles they meet. Plus, it really doesn’t matter when you know Fizzy and Connor will end up together. However, the joy of reading this book is worth the predictability of knowing which couple ends up together.
