The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling
This review has been delayed until what might be considered the optimal time of year to read the book. The book is a continuation of The Ex Hex, but focusing on different characters. Gwyn and Wells are now the focus of the Jones and Penhallow bloodline that feud and fall in love. Wells is sent to Glenn Graves to watch the town after Simon is upset the Rhys married Vivi and the Jones family now control the magic in the town. Wells arrives in town surprising Gwyn who is hosting a bachelorette party at his house. Wells then opens a competing business across the street from Gwyn and the two argue when Wells accidentally sells a charmed necklace to a normal person. During the argument they kiss and while they both dismiss it as a love spell, this is the start of the working together to solve several problems and eventually falling in love. Gwyn’s family goes out of town leaving her and Wells on their own to figure out why Gwyn’s magic is on the fritz and what is up with the bad vibe from Morgan who returned to town. Gwyn has three “baby witches” from the college who Gwyn and Vivi have agreed to help practice magic outside of the school yet still be supervised to make sure they are safely practicing magic. The baby witches help Gwyn and Wells figure out what drained Gwyn’s magic (and it isn’t Morgan). Morgan ends up being a bad witch that Gwyn thought she was, just for different reasons, and turn to Wells to save Gwyn. Simon, Wells’ father, real reason for sending his son to Glenn Graves is revealed and Bowen (the third Penhallow brother) said he will deal with his father. This cliff hanger leaves the reader hoping for at least a trilogy in this series.
