People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

There was a delay from reading this to writing this post. Not for timing to line with the story, but to figure out how the story really made me feel. There is nothing wrong with this book or this story, but it did not make me feel like some of the other Emily Henry books that were so enjoyable to read. Yes, the story was fun and easy to read, but the characters just did not make me feel a connection that is normally there in other books by this author. Having read a few other books by this author Book Lovers, Beach Read, Happy Place I think there was an expectation of some kind. This book was not bad, and I would recommend it to fans of the rom-com best friends to lovers scenario. However, there was just something that made it hard to connect to Poppy.  I liked reading this story, and will continue to read this author, but compared to prior books read by this author it just was not what I anticipated. If you loved this story, what drew you in? What was that connection? 

 

To me this book boils down to good, but in a few years I may forget the details on characters and story or if I read it.
