Christmas, Criminals, & Campers

Christmas, Criminals, & Campers (plus the next three) by Tonya Kappes

Due to listening to this series as audiobooks, and they come three to credit on Audible, this review will cover not only the listed book, but also the next three in the series: Motorhomes, Maps, & Murder; Canyons, Caravans, & Cadavers; and Hitches, Hideouts, & Homicides.  Mae West and the Laundry Club gang are helping Detective Hank Sharp solve the murder of a famous author (Christmas) – but did she really write those books Abby loves so much? A prison escape and actual murder during a Civil War re-enactment (Motorhomes) – and track down a twice stolen motorhome. The killer of the high school archery coach (Canyons) – and what was going on with the high school test scores? and find out how a horse trainer really died (Hitches) – plus what was with the robbery of the bank all those years ago?

The cast of characters is starting to grow as now Mae’s foster mother is living nearby and running a bed and breakfast with one of her friends, after the mess with the Milkery was settled. Mae’s foster brother is still in town and starting to take on more responsibilities at the gas station. A reporter is hoping the ladies of The Laundry Club will help her break out of smalltown news by letting her help with investigations. Hank’s parents and sister are back in town, with his sister trying to set Hank up with the corner who is her best friend. The supporting cast of people in the town is getting bigger as well, and as the series goes along it becomes harder and harder to wait between books to see what this crazy mess this cast will find themselves in next.
