Love Wager

Love Wager by Lynn Painter

This author is really making me a fan of her rom-com, Hallmark movie type books. Hallie and Jack meet when she sells him an engagement ring and then again later when she is working her part time job to help pay down student loans. That would be enough to signal to avid rom-com fans that these two will fall in love, however first they have a one-night stand and then try and help each other find love and get their life “right” by betting who would find love first. Of course, they fall in love with each other, and Jack does realize it, but Hallie is thinking Alex might be for her and it creates a problem for her and Jack before they end up together. A totally fun read, if you want to read it at the “right” time of year to fell more connected to the characters, the book takes place during the autumn, but it is really a great beach read and can be read anytime you want a pick me up.

Character List/Book Summary:

Hallie Piper – bartender and part-time jewelry store sales lady in an effort to pay off student loans. When her and Jack decide to bet each other who can find love first, she wagers a signed baseball by the 2016 World Series Cubs. Kind of quirky, but her unique style helps Jack see the lighter side. Her sister is getting married and wants to bring a date to Vail with her for the wedding.

Jack Marshall – buys a ring from Hallie thinking he will propose to his current girlfriend, but doesn’t after she is incredibly rude to Hallie who is bartending his sister’s wedding. Meets Hallie at a Taco place after each of their dates to see how bad/good the date went. Helps Hallie move into her new apartment, and gets a kitten because of her. Wagers his airline points and 5 nights at a hotel for their bet.

Olivia – Jack’s younger sister, married Colin Jack’s best friend. Tells Jack he forces relationships so he will not be alone and sets him up on a dating app. Likes Hallie when they visit after one of their coordinated dates.

Alex – Hallie meets him on a date and starts spending time with him and invites him to her sister’s wedding in Vail. Jack tells him about the wager, possibly in an effort to break them up.
