Yours Truly

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

A very interesting book with two great romantic leads, each with their own uniqueness that is very relatable. When faced with issues communicating with a new co-worker Dr. Jacob Maddox and Dr. Briana Ortiz start writing letters to each other, and agree to fake date to help Jacob’s brother feel less guilty about marrying Jacob’s ex fiancé. Of course one thing leads to another and they fall in love, but there is a misunderstanding and confusion that causes a pause in their relationship before they can get their happily ever after. The joy in this book is that Jacob is dealing with anxiety and Briana is dealing with a sick brother and her own issues of abandonment and not being able to trust after her husband was cheating with her best friend for years and filed for divorce as Briana was dealing with a miscarriage.   The story really focuses on Briana and Jacob with friends and family as side characters and are much needed to help understand the main characters better or move the relationship along (and create the confusion). However, the best part is seeing how Briana and Jacob adapt to each other’s unique needs and want to break through their own issues to be with the other one. The wanting to does not mean it is easy or that they can do so quickly, but that is what makes the book more realistic than more happily ever after rom-com books.
