Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escape by Nancy Springer
Enola and Sherlock are on the same case yet again, but this time for different purposes. Enola went to visit her friend Cecily Alistair only to find out her father is keeping her and her mother hostage again. Enola devises a plan to visit Cecily, which Cecily mistakes as a visit to help her escape. After escaping and helping both versions of Cecily (the left-handed adventurous side, and the right-handed docile side) escape her father’s house Enola brings her to the offices of her alias, Dr. Ragostin, which has been shut down while she is attending courses and learning. Sherlock upon being hired by Cecily’s father goes straight to Enola’s hide out where he finds his sister claiming no knowledge of where Cecily is and when Sherlock searches the office it is discovered that Cecily has escaped. Sherlock is searching for Cecily to bring her back to her father, while Enola is searching for Cecily to make sure her docile side is not taken advantage of or hurt. In trying to figure things out, Enola makes a friend Lady Vienna Steadwell at the club. Lady Vienna is also left-handed and has known Cecily’s mother since she was young. Lady Vienna also knew Enola’s mother and gave her some insight into her mother and gave her praise that Enola needed from a motherly figure. Lady Vienna helps Cecily’s mother stand up to her husband, and possibly blackmail him with how he is paying for their lifestyle, and then takes Cecily to see specialists in France to help Cecily with her two personalities.
The best part of this book is that the ending hints at the next adventure of Sherlock and Enola. The paperback version of the next Enola Holmes adventure was just released.
