Enola Holmes: Black Barouche

Enola Holmes and the Black Barouche by Nancy Springer

Enola is no longer hiding from her brothers, which is a good thing because Sherlock is in a state of depression and Watson has asked Enola to try and get him out of it. As Enola is visiting she invites Letitia Glover to come up and hears her cause for concern over her missing sister, Felicity. Enola and Sherlock agree it does sound suspicious and both agree to take the case, but each go about finding out information in very different ways. Enola turns to a friend whom she helped in her escape from her brothers, while Sherlock goes undercover. When the two run into each other they pretend to not know each other and when Sherlock goes to rescue Enola he runs into her escaping. Back in London the two share their information and figure out what happened to Felicity, but not where she was sent off to. Sherlock comes up with a plan to figure out where Felicity was sent, but it requires more than just Enola, Watson, and Letitia to pull it off, that is when Enola’s helpful friend comes into play. The misadventures that befall the group are comical, but in the end Felicity’s location is discovered and Sherlock and Watson are able to rescue her. After reading this, the reader is left wanting more of Enola and Sherlock working on cases together, but in their own independent way.
