The Lions of Fifth Avenue

The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis

As Sadie Donovan is working in the New York Public Library, she is keeping those she works with in the dark about how her mother and grandmother were connected to the New York Public Library and the Berg Collection. As the past comes back to haunt Sadie she realizes how little she knew of her mother and grandmother. As she learns more about her family’s history with the Berg in 1913 and her famous grandmother’s essays from her time with the Heterodoxy Club and move to London, Sadie realizes following in her mother and grandmother’s footsteps may not be such a bad thing. Sadie is hurt from a divorce and is just enjoying her life, but quietly and in her own way, when the Berg has items go missing from locked cages. Similar to what happened to her family in 1913 Sadie is eyed as the suspect once her family history is known. The title has a funny play on words with the lions outside the NYPL and the family’s name being Lyons. Sadie realizing what happened to her uncle and hearing his story about what happened in 1913 and his connection to the new thefts was an interesting twist. I have enjoyed other books by this author and want you to consider giving this mystery a try.
