A Touch of Chaos by Scarlett St. Clair
Hades has been kidnapped, Persephone is in a rage over everything she just experienced, and the Triad is fighting the Gods. The world is in chaos as Theseus and the other demi-gods who run the Triad are on a rampage and the Gods are not the only ones facing their wrath. Humans, especially Ariadne Alexiou, Helen, and Phaedra face Theseus’s wrath. The last book in this series was great for the most part, but all of the Theseus chapter were hard to read not just him raping Ari and Helen, but his abuse of women and his wife, and his total lack of caring for his son. Persephone with the helps of her friends holds the Underworld together (and starts to realize she is the Queen not just a goddess), figures out where Hades is being held and goes and frees him. Then along with the other Gods who still have their powers (Zeus took away the powers of any of the Gods who sided with Hades and Persephone) get ready for battle with the Triad. Theseus uses Hera to lure Zeus into being drugged, so he can kill Zeus, and after using Hera for her orchard and inside information on the Gods Theseus kills Hera. Hades has more souls in the Underworld and his powers have not diminished, using his underground network he helps humans find safety during the battles between the Gods and the Triad. Hecate gives wise counsel to both Persephone and Hades during the book, with helping Persephone to understand what being Queen of the Underworld means and Hades what the prophecy of victorious over the Gods could mean. While sad to see this series end the ending was well worth it. The only thing missing would be for readers to know what fate so many of the Triad face in the Underworld.
No Character List, as it would be hard not to reveal too many spoilers. I will warn, as was mentioned at the start of the book and in my write up there are references to and indications of rape, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and suicide.
