A Flicker in the Dark

A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham

A great book for a haunting time of year, but also not the kind to read if you get spooked easily. While there was nothing gruesome or gross is explained in detail it can make some extra nervous. Book dragons and avid readers of mysteries might guess who the real killer was, but there are a few extra twists that might still surprise these readers. Sometimes the book was going back and forth from present day to memories at times that slow the pace of the story moving forward, but keep the reader engaged. No character list as secrets should not be revealed until it is time. This book was read in the early fall, but would be a good summer read when the days are longer and the monsters lurking in the dark have less time to hide. Chloe Davis, the main character, is struggling to “be normal” after having grown up the daughter of the town’s monster (he killed 6 girls in town). Now, a successful doctor and engaged to a pharmaceutical salesman more teenage girls are showing up dead and Chloe starts getting suspicious of those around her. An interesting book, and while it may not be a recommendation to everyone I would tell anyone interested in reading this book to go ahead and read it.

Warning – there are mentions of self-harm, suicide, drug abuse, and killings (nothing very detailed, but mentioned enough that a warning might be needed for those who do not want to read about these).
